Leonard is a Kenyan environmental scientist born in Kisumu, Western Kenya. He is passionate, enthusiastic and committed to working on interactions between society, economy and ecosystems to realize the dual objective of conservation and poverty alleviation amongst the communities he was raised in. He has a long and successful history of work with Lake Victoria’s communities, having worked as both a program manager and adviser on numerous sustainable livelihoods and conservation initiatives for the papyrus wetlands of Lake Victoria. Leonard holds a B.Sc. in Natural Resources Management from Egerton University, Kenya and M.Sc. in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from University of Manchester UK. He is the inaugural winner of the prestigious Pan-African Entrepreneurship Award for his work on environmental and social entrepreneurship for poverty alleviation by Educating Africa and Teach A Man To Fish, UK. Additionally he is Kinship Conservation Fellow and Ford Motor Company International Fellow of 92nd Street Y for 2011 and 2015 respectively for his work on Business Based Solutions for Environmental Problems, Civil Society Leadership and Community Work. He is the Co-ordinator of Ecofinder Kenya and the Technical advisor for Ecotourism Sensation Lake Victoria and he brings his vast experience, knowledge and expertise to the business.
Roniance Adhiambo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Enterprise and Management from Egerton University. She is has experience in working with community members in the field of wetlands, species and Environmental conservation. This experience has accumulated over the years through her work at Ecofinder Kenya, Mombasa Marine Park and volunteer works as the head of Egerton University Wildlife Association. Aside from her outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills, Roniance is driven by the need to find a way to strike the balance between economic empowerment and Environmental/natural resource conservation. Her professional training, business orientation and enthusiasm for nature makes her rightly placed to develop and execute this business venture.
Sigu is a graduate in electronics and computer engineering from Jomo Kenyatta university of Agriculture and Technology. He is currently the developer relations at LakeHub He has experience in creating web applications with Ruby on Rails for the past 2 years. His github account is @sigu for portfolio of previous works. Sigu is the architect of the online platform and other technological aspects of the business venture. He is also the brains behind a #code9ty, project at lakehub that seeks to increase web development skills in the region
Rebecca is from Hamburg, Germany. She absolved her A-levels in July 2015 and her focus subjects were geography and economy which gave her a comprehensive view and knowledge about global development and several economical and geographical processes and their coherence. She has gained significant work experiences, for instance a work placement at Living Coasts, a zoo in Torquay, Great Britain, which had a great emphasis on wildlife conservation where she collaborated in the administrative department, did research on several wildlife conservation projects and prepared speeches and presentations about animal species. Furthermore, she has worked as an intern at an insolvency office where she assisted in drafting professional opinions relating to insolvency law and processing cases of insolvent corporates. Rebecca grew up bilingual and has made several work and culture related experiences all over the world. She considers herself as an open-minded, focused and capable member of this international team and is looking forward to tackle the challenge of setting up a sustainable business in Kenya.
Caroline is the Programmes Manager for Ecofinder Kenya. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in BusinessAdministration (Human Resource Management option) from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science & Technology (JOOUST), and Diploma in Business Management (Kenya Institute of Management) and is currently undertaking Master’s Degree in Strategic Management (University of Nairobi). She has professional skills and five years of working experience in Resource mobilization and Project management, Group Savings and Loaning, Producers Group Mobilization and Training, Enterprises Development, web2.0 for tools for development (CTA Netherlands &Moi University), Business Incubation and Mentorship and Nature Conservation. Her exemplary record in both experience and professional training speaks for itself. She is the business mind behind Ecotourism Sensation Lake Victoria and has what it takes to move it to the next level.
